Fergie

Some time ago, I wrote a brief story about Fergie who came to live with me through "WestieWalk".  At the time I wrote it, I talked about "rescuing" a westie who had some behavioral issues that resulted in her family giving her up to WestieWalk in order to find her another home.   After having Fergie for almost a year now, I re-wrote the story to tell you about how Fergie rescued me and my 10-year-old Westie "Tipper"!

For over a year, Tipper and I had been grieving the loss of DeeDee, a 16 year old Westie and Digit, a 14 year old Westie, that I had to put down due failing health.  I don't think I realized the depression their loss created in Tipper or me; I just knew that I couldn't replace them.  Tipper no longer played; and for the most part, slept in her cage all day.  She had terrible breathing problems that the vet diagnosed as anxiety from being alone.  When I received the call about Fergie needing a home, I thought it would be a companion for Tipper and drove to Columbus to pick her up.

Fergie's "behavioral issues" of needing to be the center of attention also included non-stop playing, ball juggling/chasing, digging, running and pouncing on you... if you weren't paying attention to her.  The challenge of changing the lazy, listless, dull, boring life of Tipper and myself was on!

While I believe that God has a plan for all of us designed to work in his time, I now believe that His plan also includes our pets.  Fergie has brought life back into Tipper (who no longer seems to have a breathing problem) and joy into mine.  I want to thank the family that loved Fergie enough to give her up to WestieWalk so that she could find her way into my home and my heart
