Maggie
(Miss Congeniality – or is she?)

To know Maggie is to
love her.  She loves everyone and everyone loves her.  Several times I had to say no to people who wanted me to give her up to them.

Almost from the start, Maggie would try to talk to us…. she had so much to say and we did our best to hold up our end of the conversation.  She mostly wanted everyone’s constant love and attention (big surprise for a Westie right?!!)  Maggie was very sensitive when it came to Jessie, and eventually any dog that came into our family.  She would pace and worry when one of them was on the Vet table, in the tub, or getting groomed.  Maggie was so attached to Jessie that she would try to jump in the bathtub if Jessie was getting a bath.  She wanted to be everywhere she was….literally.  She is truly a lover and not a fighter and definitely earned her title of  “Miss Congeniality”.

When Jessie passed, however, the title came into question.  Looking back I believe Maggie thought she had to step up to the plate and become the Alpha dog although her heart wasn’t really in it.   She tried to be something she really wasn’t and it caused her such stress, we temporarily put her on stress medication.  Eventually she gave up the idea of having to be Alpha dog and went back to being Maggie again, and thus has been re-crowned “Miss Congeniality”. Maggie, we are so glad to have you back.
